About US
Our Story
Our story began 30 years ago in 1991 when Independent Packaging was founded by a forward-thinking entrepreneur driven by a passion for innovative packaging solutions. Since then, we’ve expanded our network of partners, customers, employees, and supporters, which has helped us become a market leader. Along the way, we've developed three patented box designs and rebranded with a fresh logo and the new name – iPak.
Innovation has always been a broad concept for everyone connected to us in some way. We began by designing and manufacturing corrugated boxes, but now offer a comprehensive selection of packaging, including creative combinations of corrugated, litho, and laminated cartons, eye-catching promotional materials, and stylish gift boxes.
While iPak is mainly responsible for designing and manufacturing packaging solutions for local markets, our products are also shipped to various international markets throughout Europe, America and Australia. Over the years, we have acquired a set of highly specialized skills through our list of divisions and subsidiaries, including iBox, iPak Digital, CardzGroup Africa PTY, and more.
iPak currently maintain a BEE Level 6 status; however, in the future, we aim to achieve Level 2, while iPak Digital is already at Level 2.

Start to Finish
The print and packaging industry is a multifaceted process, involving numerous stages from initial concept to the final product.
1
Collaboration & Communication
Throughout this entire process, collaboration and communication between designers, manufacturers, and clients are key to creating a successful packaging solution that meets both aesthetic and functional goals.
2
Evaluating Key Factors
Choosing a printing process involves evaluating key factors such as material, quality, print run size, colour needs, prepress time, budget, and location.
3
Selecting a Printing Method
IPak utilizes various methods based on these considerations. Offset lithography is ideal for high-quality, large print runs on paper and board. Flexography suits flexible packaging like plastics and films. Gravure is used for high-volume, high-quality packaging, and letterpress is preferred for specialty raised ink prints. Screen printing works well for irregular surfaces and specialty materials, whereas digital printing is best for short runs and quick turnarounds.
4
Printing Across Materials
These processes enable IPak to print on paper, plastics, laminates, and metals efficiently.
